SCREW THE NORMAL LIFE!!! I'm going diving...

7 years on-air on national radio, 19 years of corporate bullshit, I've climbed the ladders always ONLY to find more stress, dissatisfaction and LESS time for what matters.

I packed up my bags in February 2009 with only 5 shirts and 4 pairs of shorts and became a PADI Instructor to live "THE SIMPLE LIFE".

Day 1 in Koh Lanta

I HAVE ARRIVED

(image from the web)

The Airasia flight took off at 1330 (Malaysian time) and landed in Krabi at 1340 (Thai time)...from leaving the relatively good weather in KL, I arrive in the wet-gray Thailand and was met by Anand almost immediately after checking out. Remember that you should apply for your Thai Visa before heading here. If applied for in advance, you'll get 60 days otherwise you can get a "visa on entry" that only allows you to enter for 15 days.

Although the the land ride to airport-Koh Lanta takes slightly longer compared to airport-Perhentian, the trip is relatively easier. From the airport you are driven right to the doorstep of your resort. There's no need to get up & down for boats or to get your feet wet getting from boat to shore.

FIRST IMPRESSION

The island is quite spread out and reminds me driving thru the muddy countryside roads of Philippines with small clusters of shops & small towns as you drive along...all in all, upon arriving on the island itself, the drive from the ferry terminal in Saladan (northern tip of the island) - Kantiang Bay (almost at the southern tip) where I'm gonna be staying took approximately 25 minutes.

I cant tell you much about the island in general at the moment, however my few months here would allow me to provide you with the needed information in future...
