Starting off on your journey into the world of diving usually starts with a little bit of coaxing from friends and people you know, who have often told you of the exciting adventures from their trips to the world below...
Just think of it, if you go for a city holiday, you'll see buildings, cars, malls...and all other things that you normally see every day of the year anyway.
Take a holiday to a mountain or jungle and you'll again see trees, cars and again things you can normally see at a park or zoo nearby any day.
Maybe that's why the millions who have discovered the addictive thrill of being weightless, in a brand new world, with things and feelings that you have never ever experienced prior to diving, stay diving and ache for every next opportunity to get underwater.
If you've been listening to your friends talk on and on about their exciting, sometimes scary and yet almost certainly enjoyable trips, consider experiencing it for yourself soon.
There are a few really simple ways of getting started or even just simply trying out one dive to see whether you're the kind of person who'd like it or not.
Many island-based dive centres offer Try Dives for genuinely interested customers and these dives are usually free!
The Try Dive experience is a very short session (usually enters from the beach in front of the dive centre), where a Dive Instructor takes you from the shore and will hold on to you while you both slowly swim around shallow water, usually shallow enough for you to just stand up if you suddenly feel you're not up for it.
If you've survived a Try Dive, enjoyed the experience but still aren't convinced you'd be able to actually dive on your own, you can opt for a Discover Scuba Diving package which would take approximately 2-3 hours.
The Discover Scuba Diving session usually starts off with a short flip-chart session with a Dive Instructor followed by a short introduction to the diving equipment you'll be using, getting into your equipment then spending approximately half an hour in shallow water (usually shallow enough for you to just stand up if you're having any sudden nerve attacks).

Once the Dive Instructor is confident that you're comfortable, he/she will take you out on a dive at any of the nearby "easy" dive sites where he/she will be fully dedicated you.
The Dive Instructor may choose to assign a Divemaster to hold your hand throughout the dive if you're still in need of a hand, usually when there are more than one person taking the Discover Scuba Diving Package.
The advantage of doing The Discover Scuba Diving session is that you receive a certificate at the end of your 2-3 hour session which will allow you to dive up to 12 meters, supervised by a Dive Instructor or Divemaster for the following 12 months (PADI).
You can also ask the Dive Instructor about how you can qualify the one Discover Scuba Diving dive that you did as one out of four dives that you will be required to do in order to complete a full fledged diving license should you decide to DIVE LAH!
To get yourself into a full fledged license, you have a few main options:
(Biggest network of divers in the world, lessons made easy & gets you certified in as short as 3 days...)
(Slightly more affordable - equally recognized dive certification...smaller community...)
(Intensive training and more in-depth understanding of diving...)
(Intensive training and requires slightly more time before getting certified...)
